Overcoming
Anxiety, Stress, and Fear

A Biblical approach to identifying and defeating the spiritual root causes of anxiety, stress, and fear. The Bible holds keys to help you overcome in every area of your life. Through applying the insights that we teach at Be in Health®, many have defeated anxiety, stress, and fear in their lives. You can too!

Who Is Affected by Anxiety, Stress, and Fear?

There are two types of fear: the God-designed fight or flight response and the enemy’s designed long-term state of being in fear. We have been designed by God with a fear mechanism that triggers a fight or flight response when we are faced with a potentially dangerous situation, like a bear in our path. The issue comes when a person is in a prolonged state of fear, stress, and anxiety.

Over the past few years, we have seen a consistent rise in the number of people struggle with fear and anxiety. According to the National Alliance on Mental Health, over 40 million adults in the U.S. (19.1%) have an anxiety disorder. And approximately 7% of children experience issues with anxiety each year.

Additionally, numerous surveys confirm that adult Americans perceive that they are under much more stress than a decade or two ago. It has been estimated that between 75-90% of all visits to primary health care physicians are due to stress-related problems. Job stress, is by far, the leading source of stress levels in adults. However, stress levels have also escalated in children, teenagers, college students, and the elderly.

What Causes Anxiety, Stress, and Fear?

We need to begin by understanding what anxiety and stress actually are. They are a modern, “correct,” way of saying that a person has fear. The Bible tells us that Fear is not just an emotion but a spirit. We cannot see it, but it is able to speak to our spirit and give us fearful thoughts and emotions.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV

If we find ourselves unable to be at peace or rest within our spirit, it is a good indication that Fear is present. Fear needs to become our enemy because its main purpose is to keep us from being able to trust God and believe what He says in His Word 100%. Fear will advertise itself as a self-protection mechanism and lead us to believe that we need to be constantly aware or vigilant or in a self-defense mode to avoid disaster or protect ourselves from whatever evil it projects. It will always project negativity or the worst-case scenario into our future and hold us to our past experiences to continually come to the same, incorrect conclusion about future situations.

Often times Fear finds a door point when we have not been properly loved, covered or nurtured by someone who was supposed to love us and didn’t, or just didn’t know how. This is not an opportunity to blame anyone for the issues we struggle with because God knows that they have had their own set of issues that have kept them in bondage. However, it is important to recognize where the enemy got his foothold in our lives so that the door can then be closed to him.

What Does the Bible Say About Anxiety, Stress, and Fear?

The Bible is filled with commandments to not fear, be anxious, or worry. Philippians 4:6 tells us not to be anxious (careful) for anything:

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Philippians 4:6 KJV

First Peter tells us that we can give God all our cares and worries because He cares for us:

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7 KJV

Jesus commanded us not to be troubled or afraid. Instead, He left us His peace that only comes through the Holy Spirit.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27 KJV

Jesus also told us that being anxious or taking thought for tomorrow could not add anything to our lives because our Heavenly Father will take care of all our needs:

25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matthew 6:25-34

For every particular fear, there is a remedy found in the Word of God. We can ask God to help us find Scriptures that overturn the specific lies of the enemy that tempt us to agree with Fear.

Can we be Free From Anxiety, Stress, and Fear?

Absolutely! It may require perseverance, but it is possible. It often takes time to recognize where the enemy has been working in our lives, and begin to take captive our thoughts and cast down the ones that do not line up with God’s Word.

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV

Then we can renew our minds with the truth of God’s Word, and learn new ways of thinking, speaking, and acting.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2 KJV

The Big Questions Are:

Why do we struggle with anxiety, stress, and fear?

Can I be free from anxiety, stress, and fear?

What does the Bible say about anxiety, stress, and fear?

How do I stay free from anxiety, stress, and fear?

We want to help you answer these questions and find real solutions for your life.

Here’s how Be in Health can help you overcome

At Be in Health, we help people identify and overcome the spiritual root causes of anxiety, stress, and fear with amazing results of complete freedom and peace.

The medical community has known for years about the mind-body connection (how our thoughts affect our body), but what they don’t understand is the spirit, soul, body connection that is defined in the Word of God. This means we are a spirit, we have a soul (or mind), and we live in a body. What is so often overlooked or misunderstood is the connection between these three major parts of our being.

Through the various classes and resources that we offer, we can help recover you back to the way that God designed you. God wants you to be whole in your entire being: spirit, soul, and body. This happens through identifying thought processes and life perspectives—how you view yourself, the world around you, and God. Tens of thousands of people have been healed when their mind and their spirit were renewed, and then their bodies lined up and healed as well.

You, too, can overcome anxiety, stress, and fear! God’s Word has real solutions for your life, your health, and your peace. We want to come alongside you on your road to freedom.
